Earning your wings

Sharing a thought. Let’s admit it — we’re all a bit crazy. Life is nuts. It seems like all of the “check engine” lights, including the really bad ones, are flashing now.

We’re facing our mortality. We’re facing poverty (with the economy closing up and shutting down.) We’re facing scarcity. We’re facing the loss of loved ones. We’re afraid to step out because adapting means doing things we’ve not done before and we’ll certainly fail at least once first.

If you’ve got this far reading, here’s the hopeful part. In the grand scheme of the Universe and Creation, I suspect that this is how Angels earn their wings. We’re challenged to grow. We’re challenged to do right for ourselves and loved ones. We’re challenged to become smarter, more aware, and adapt. We are challenged to give more of ourselves than we ever thought was possible.

To paraphrase John F. Kennedy: We do these things because they are hard and they measure the best of our energies and skills, because these challenges are ones that we can and have the will to accept, ones we are unwilling to, and no longer can postpone, and ones which we intend to win.

You are earning your wings.
